An odd bird's collection
“King Cophetua and the Beggar Maid” by Edward Burne-Jones, 1884.
I wish I knew more about this painting, but for now, I am content to look at it and imagine the story behind it.
The King is my favorite element in this piece; the muted jewel tones of his armor and cloth are understated and elegant. I much prefer this palette to traditional red-and-gold costumes. I’ll have to file that morsel of color combination away in my brain for later.
